Luke Woodland on target for scholars in draw at Everton
Wanderers’ under-18 side were held to a 1-1 draw with Everton at the weekend. In a promising opening half, Luke Woodland’s long-range shot cannoned in-off the post to give David Lee and Tony Kelly’s side the lead after 25 minutes.
Bolton continued to enjoy the better of the play after the interval but ultimately paid the price for not adding to their solitary goal when the hosts drew level on 85 minutes.
“We created several good chances in the first half,” academy head coach Lee explained. “We passed the ball well in the first half, but couldn't take advantage of our good play.
“The second half was a battle, with us again having a couple of chances.
“Overall, it was pleasing to go to Everton and earn a point against good opponents.
“We move onto the last game of the first phase of games at home to West Brom, before the FA Youth Cup against Portsmouth on Monday 10 December.”
