Midfielder speaks after opening his account for the club
Having notched his first goal in Bolton colours against Millwall on Saturday, Andre Moritz believes that the Wanderers’ faithful are yet to see his full potential.
The Brazilian playmaker came off the bench against the Lions to help the Whites to a 3-1 win, with a groin injury having limited the 27-year-old’s appearances so far.
With his struggles well and truly behind him however, Moritz revealed that he is raring to go and ready to show the club’s supporters just why Dougie Freedman brought him to the Reebok Stadium in the summer.
“I’m just happy to be back on the pitch and happy to be involved in the games, being part of the team and scoring my first goal,” he said following the final whistle on Saturday.
“It has been frustrating because as a football player you never want to get injured – it’s the worst part of this job.”
He added: “I was watching all the games from the stands and I just wanted to be involved and back on the pitch because I’m just happy to be there, in training and back on the score sheet.”
The midfielder also paid tribute to his teammates, claiming that the morale amongst the squad is something that has been key in helping him to settle into life in the North West.
“We do have a really good squad here and all of the boys are good friends,” he explained. “That’s the main thing, to have a winning spirit and we do have a great atmosphere at the training ground.
“We train hard and have a great group of friends here so I’ve settled in well – so far so good, and I hope after this goal now it can be much better.”
With trips to Watford and Middlesbrough next up for Wanderers, Moritz admitted that although the squad will be taking advantage of the international break, the next game cannot come quickly enough.
“I can have a rest now, but then I can come back and train hard for the next couple of games that we have which will be really difficult,” he said.
“I’m a football player – this is my job and it’s what I love doing so I’m just happy to be back. I just want to have more game time, be more involved and just become an important part of the team and help as much as I can.”
