A look-ahead to the youngsters' clash with the Black Cats this weekend
Wanderers’ under-18 team will be looking to record their third consecutive win on Saturday with the lunchtime visit of Sunderland.
With the Black Cats’ first team counterparts featuring at Wembley on Sunday in the Capital One Cup Final against Manchester City, their youngsters will be looking to make it a memorable weekend for all involved with the Stadium of Light outfit.
They will however come up against a Bolton team that came from behind last week to record a 2-1 victory over Stoke City – a game which saw Harry Campbell in inspired form with Jamie Thomas and Christopher Cvetko netting the goals to secure the youngsters’ sixth league win in seven games.
Having already suffered a 7-0 defeat on Wearside last November though, David Lee and Tony Kelly’s side will be looking to achieve retribution and extend their excellent form of late.
The Black Cats themselves have not won away yet in 2014, whilst Bolton have lost just once this year having beaten both Manchester United and Manchester City in recent weeks.
Despite their lack of success on their travels this calendar year however, Sunderland certainly pose a threat in front of goal with Lynden Gooch boasting ten goals to his name this campaign, the most recent being away at Wolverhampton Wanderers last month in a 1-1 draw.
A game which was the Black Cats’ last outing, Wanderers will be hoping that the extra time between fixtures for their opponents works to the Whites' advantage come kick off.
For those wishing to attend the game, it will be held at the Eddie Davies Training Academy, Lostock with kick off scheduled for 12.30pm.
