Big defender successfully returns to first team training on Tuesday morning
David Wheater successfully returned to first team training on Tuesday after a recent spell on the sidelines with a knee complaint.
After making seven first team appearances in the early stages of the campaign, the big defender underwent a routine follow up operation to solve an issue on the knee injury that kept him out for much of last year.
And after successfully building up his fitness over the past month at Euxton, Wheater is now fully fit and back training with the first team squad.
“He’s been with the sports science department 24 hours a day nearly for the last six weeks,” Dougie Freedman explained. “Now he’s back fit and in contention.
“We have got another defender we can benefit from.”
Wheater could potentially be involved in this weekend’s home game against AFC Bournemouth at the Reebok Stadium.
