SETTING THE SCENE
Bolton’s second pre-season fixture sees the side travel an hour north of their training base in Pollau to face German side SC Paderborn at the Franz Fekete Stadion in Kapfenberg.
After an encouraging second half performance against Sturm Graz on Saturday, on paper Wanderers now face a step up quality in German outfit Paderborn, recently relegated from the German Bundesliga.
Markus Gellhaus, recently appoint Paderborn manager, and his side begin their competitive season on July 26, so are at a more advanced stage in their pre-season programme.
So far the German outfit have won one, lost one and drawn two of their pre-season fixtures.
TEAM NEWS
Bolton will make a decision on the day as to whether Liam Trotter and Emile Heskey will feature. Both sat out the defeat against Sturm Graz after suffering slight injuries during training.
Josh Vela remains absent after being sent home from the Austria training camp with a virus, whilst Max Clayton continues to step up his rehabilitation from a knee injured sustained last season.
Aside from that, Neil Lennon is once again expected to make full use of the entire compliment of players present in Austria.
ONE TO WATCH
Moritz Stoppelkamp has been a mainstay in German football for the last decade.
Whilst maybe not a household name, Stoppelkamp has featured on a regular basis for the likes of Hannover 96 and 1860 Munich over the years, and now finds himself aiming to help Paderborn bounce back to the Bundesliga at the first time of asking.
In total he has registered over 100 appearances in the German top flight, and shot to fame in the early stages of the 2014/15 season, scoring a spectacular goal from 83 metres against Hannover.
