Manager accompanies Bolton Whites Hotel staff member and Derian House fund-raiser Jimmy McKay for cheque presentation
Neil Lennon paid a special visit to Chorley-based children’s hospice Derian House last week.
The manager was on hand to accompany Bolton Whites Hotel staff member Jimmy McKay, who along with his wife has raised over £50,000 for Derian House during a series of recent Iron Man and fundraising events.
Derian House is renowned throughout the region as being at the forefront of children’s palliative and respite care.
Jimmy was accompanied by the manager for a special cheque presentation to Derian House’s Head of Fundraising Susie Poppitt, before being given a guided tour of the facility.
“It’s a very humbling experience,” said the manager after the visit. “I’d like to pay a special tribute to Jimmy for the amount of money he has raised.
“The facility itself is obviously tinged with real sadness, but the staff do a wonderful job. At time we forget that people haven’t been as fortunate as ourselves.
“Derian House gives the families and children real comfort We’re an important part of our local community and it’s important we remember that.”
The Bolton Wanderers first team squad are also due to visit Derian House as part of their annual Christmas visits next month.
Jimmy is also currently raising money for Prostate Cancer by partaking in their Movember campaign.
