Scans reveal midfielder could be back in action later this week
Neil Lennon has allayed any serious injury concerns surrounding Jay Spearing, after the midfielder was forced from the field of play against Burnley.
Spearing left Turf Moor early and scans have since revealed no serious damage to Spearing’s lower leg, with the manager hopeful of a quick recovery.
“There’s no fracture, which is obviously good news,” Lennon said. “We’ll wait and see how he is today (Monday) and take things from there.
“It looks like a bit of nerve damage, which can take anywhere between a couple of days to a week to heal. We’re thankful it’s not long term.
“I was really pleased with his contribution at Burnley. I wouldn’t say his injury disrupted us, but it certainly affected our flow and the way we were playing.”
