Will Jaaskelainen saved a penalty as Bolton Wanderers beat Charlton Athletic at Lostock on Saturday to claim their third successive win.
In a first half of few chances, the goalkeeper saved well to deny the Addicks from the penalty spot after being deemed to bring down his opponent.
The Whites took the lead after the interval as Tyrell Palmer finished well from a corner, with Bolton controlling proceedings from thereon in to clinch victory.
Speaking after the final whistle, Under-18s coach David Lee said: "It was a very physical encounter with not much between the two sides, so we are very pleased to have come out on top.
"We were solid throughout and kept a good disciplined shape and structure, frustrating Charlton then counter-attacking well as we limited them to few chances in the first half.
"We then dominated the second half and put Charlton under pressure in all area of the pitch, with the lads putting in a number of very good individual performances.
"Charlton were top of our league, so confidence should be taken from the players resolute hard-working and determined performance."
