Youngsters slip to defeat at Lostock in their latest U18 Professional Development League 2 outing
Wanderers’ Under-18s suffered defeat in a seven goal thriller as they lost 4-3 against their Huddersfield Town counterparts on Wednesday afternoon.
The Whites’ youngsters started brightly, with Danny McKenna opening the scoring at Lostock after arriving at the far post to meet Ronaldo Pearson’s cross, with the latter then turning goalscorer for Bolton’s second as he fired home from range after good link up play with Alex Samazideh.
Samazideh himself also managed to get himself on the scoresheet with a long-range effort from outside the box, but Wanderers were ultimately pegged back as the Terriers ran out winners to ensure that David Lee’s side were left disappointed at the hands of Yorkshire opposition once again following the weekend’s narrow defeat to Leeds.
Speaking following the final whistle, Lee said: “We are of course disappointed to lose the game having scored three goals ourselves, but the result aside we enjoyed some excellent phases of play.
“Now, we need to work on our defending to become more resolute – ultimately we’re conceding goals through a lack of decision making and concentration which is something which will come with experience.
“The most pleasing aspect of the afternoon is definitely the development of the forward talent. It’s the hardest part of the game, though they are developing their skills and techniques very well as the season progresses."
