Dean Moxey and Tom Walker visit Football League Trust Kids Cup

First teamers attend annual football tournament to lend their backing to the youngsters involved

First team duo Dean Moxey and Tom Walker showed their support at the regional finals of the Football League Trust’s Kids Cup last Thursday afternoon.

Held at the club’s Lostock base, the annual tournament offers youngsters aged 10 and 11 from across the country the opportunity to pit their wits against each other in a bid to secure their place in the national final of the competition at Wembley.

And following the local rounds of the tournament, 12 schools representing teams from across the north of England including Derby County, Rotherham United, Burnley, Wanderers and many more played off against each other at Bolton’s academy training facility.

The side representing the Whites from Horwich Parish made it all the way to the final of the regional stage, but were unfortunately defeated 3-1 by Derby who will now go on to play AFC Wimbledon, winners of the southern section, at the national stadium on the Play-Off Final weekend in May.

Moxey and Walker meanwhile were on hand to cheer the players on, with the pair handing out medals to all involved alongside the trophy to the eventual winners representing the Pride Park outfit.
