Wanderers' Under-23s came from 3-0 down to win 4-3 in a thrilling encounter with their Barnsley counterparts on Friday afternoon, earning their seventh consecutive victory in the process.
The home side started the stronger of the sides, and with 14 minutes on the clock, they took the lead as Louis Wardle slotted into the corner of the net after collecting Victor Adeboyejo's flick-on.
And eight minutes later, it was two for Barnsley as Adeboyejo turned goalscorer while a third - and Adeboyejo's second - was added in the 27th minute from the penalty spot.
Despite this however, the Whites did pull one back before the break through Connor Hall following good work by Jeff King.
Following the restart, Bolton set about forcing their way back into the clash and were rewarded as Adam Mitchell prodded the ball home from close range to make it 3-2.
Just the boost needed for the Trotters, they had an equaliser in the 65th minute from the penalty spot after King had been brought down in the box, with Hall slotting home to level proceedings.
And King then turned goalscorer for the winning goal, with a superb solo effort from 15 yards stunning the Tykes and in turn, ensuring that Wanderers - despite the late dismissal of Joe Muscatt - picked up all three points in their latest league outing.
Speaking following the final whistle, coach David Lee said, "The character of the players was brilliant, coming from 3-0 down, especially having had Joe dismissed with a controversial straight red card late on.
"That however made the lads even more determined to win the game.
"That makes it seven straight wins for us, and sees us up to second in the table. The players' development is clear to see, they're making good progress and overall, it's been a very pleasing week with two wins in five days after the Monday's game versus Birmingham.
"The hard work on the training ground is being rewarded with the development of the players and it's hugely pleasing for everybody involved."
