Aaron Wilbraham's early strike proved to be enough for David Lee’s men who made it six wins on the spin with a 1-0 victory against Birmingham City at Leyland on Monday evening.
The big striker was named alongside fellow first team stars Stephen Darby and Derik in an experienced looking under 23s line-up.
The former Bristol City man, who played for 60 minutes, put his side in front after seven minutes when he prodded home Jeff King’s free-kick after the set piece caused problems in the Birmingham box.
The visitors had their chances to equalise but found Jake Turner and his defenders in inspired form.
Connor Hall, who has already netted two hat-tricks this term, had a chance to increase Wanderers’ lead just before the interval but he put the ball wide whilst facing a stern challenge from a Birmingham defender.
Again, Wanderers remained steadfast in their pursuit to keep a clean sheet with Turner producing a string of important saves late on.
Wanderers had further chances to put the game beyond doubt and managed to claim their sixth consecutive win.
