Andrew Taylor shared his delight at joining Wanderers on a permanent basis after enjoying a successful 2016/17 campaign on loan with the club.
Having joined the Whites temporarily from Wigan Athletic last August, the popular defender made 40 appearances in all competitions to help Bolton win automatic promotion to the Sky Bet Championship last season.
And after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal, Taylor revealed a return to Macron Stadium was always his preference when looking ahead to the 2017/18 season.
“It’s fantastic to be signing here permanently,” the 30-year-old told bwfc.co.uk. “I know all the staff, I know the manager and I’m comfortable here. It’s great to get it all tied up so early in the off-season.
“Last season it clicked. I was happy living in the area and my family were happy here so it made sense.
“As soon as the season finished, I was keen to speak with the club and I was very hopeful that they would offer me something. Thankfully they have!
“It’s majorly important to have a full pre-season in my opinion. I didn’t want to get into July and still not be in a club and miss out on the first few weeks.
“It is important to start at the club you’re going to be with for the season and thankfully that’s what I’m going to be doing.”
Taylor continued: “I’ve played most of my career in the Championship and Premier League.
“Hopefully I can use that experience to benefit the squad next year, the same as the other lads with experience at a higher level.
“A settled defence is also key and I certainly want to be part of that next season. If we can have a good relationship at the back again, the same as last year, then it will give us a good foundation to build on.
“Last season was fantastic for everyone involved, it was a successful season and we’ll be hoping to kick on again.
“We’ll all be looking to use that momentum going forward and who knows, hopefully have another really successful season next year.”
