Defender Mark Little was a special guest at Atherton-based St Philip’s CofE Primary School’s sports presentation evening on Tuesday.
The Whites’ No.2, who joined in the summer after leaving Bristol City, was invited down to Leigh Sports Village earlier this week where he took part in an evening dedicated to celebrating the youngsters’ sporting achievements.
Every child in attendance received a certificate praising them for their participation in a number of different sports at the school, while there were 13 special awards such as Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and Most Dedicated amongst others.
And following the ceremony itself, Little posed for photographs and signed autographs for the youngsters and their families – many of which were Bolton fans themselves.
Speaking following the event, he said, “It’s brilliant how St Philip’s are encouraging the pupils to be so active – when I was at school, there was nothing like this and it’s crucial, it really is.
“People always underestimate how important keeping active is. To give the children a special ceremony to celebrate their achievements in sport is fantastic and will hopefully encourage them to keep it up, even when they leave school.”
