Wanderers’ Under-18s recorded a resounding 3-6 victory over Colchester United on Tuesday afternoon to maintain their lead at the top of the Professional Development League table.
The young Whites enjoyed an electric start to the game at Florence Park when Cameron Moore fired them ahead inside just 50 seconds.
Bolton asserted their early dominance on proceedings with Luca Navarro and trialist Luke McCormick both going close.
The home side fought back, though, and replied with two goals of their own following some poor defending from Wanderers' backline.
Navarro restored parity shortly after half-time though, getting on the end of Moore’s cross, before McCormick sent Bolton into the lead for the second time with a well-taken finish.
Wanderers offered their opponents a route back into the contest by giving away a penalty which the U’s failed to capitalise on.
That was an important moment in the match which gave Bolton the edge as Moore and Navarro both completed their braces before substitute Matty Barnes added another.
In the final stages, Colchester were awarded another penalty and scored this time to make it 3-6, but Nicky Spooner’s men had done enough to secure all three points.
That’s now six wins in a row – a run which has seen them score an impressive 24 goals and let in only seven.
The team are next in action on Saturday morning, as they make the trip down south to face Watford.
