Wanderers Under-18s recorded a comfortable 2-1 victory away at Watford on Saturday to maintain their lead at the top of the Professional Development League table.
The game started evenly with both teams looking to find an early break-through, before the hosts began to take control of proceedings and dominate possession without threatening the young Whites goal.
Responding at half-time, Nicky Spooner made two changes at the break with Connell and Brown both coming on.
The duo made an instant impact following the restart with Brown, Navarro and Moore all having chances as Bolton started to enjoy the better of the game.
They did not have to wait much longer to open the scoring as Argent-Barnes beat his full-back down the wing before crossing for substitute Brown to volley home from close-range.
The Trotters continued to push forward in search of more goals and doubled their lead soon after as provider turned goalscorer with Argent-Barnes picking the ball up in midfield, running at the defence and striking home into the bottom corner from distance.
Comfortable for the rest of the game, Wanderers did concede a stoppage-time goal as Watford netted a late consolation to half the deficit, but they were unable to find an equaliser as the Whites held on to clinch a deserved three points.
Bolton: James, N. Moore, Edmondson, Smith, Fensome, Boon, C. Moore, Jones-Griffiths, Argent-Barnes, Fearnley, Navarro.
