Bolton Wanderers Under 23s ran out comfortable 2-0 winners against Colchester United in the Professional Development League on Monday afternoon.
After a pretty even contest in the first half, chances came in the form of defender Harry Brockbank’s header being cleared off the line, though players protested it went over.
Into the second half and Marcus Wood dispossessed a stray pass by the opposition, before running the length of the field with the ball only to see his shot hit the post.
David Lee’s side continued to pile on the pressure and it paid dividends as second half substitute Luca Navarro fired the ball home to opening the scoring.
The striker then made it two, as good link up play from Jack Earing, Joe Pritchard and Harry Brockbank set up young forward Navarro to smash the ball home to double his tally for the day.
From there, it was never in doubt for the Young Whites, who currently sit top of the North Division.
Wanderers XI: Aspinall, Brockbank, Earing, Edwards, Zouma, N'Diaye, Politic, Wood, Tanimowo, Fundi, Pritchard
