Wanderers U18s were defeated 4-2 by their Nottingham Forest counterparts on Saturday afternoon in the U18 Prof
The game started evenly with both teams having their share of chances in the opening ten minutes.
Wanderers could have been awarded a penalty, after Eddie Brown knocked the ball past Statham and going down, only for the ref to award Forest a free kick against the forward.
Forest opened the scoring through Ethan Dekel-Daks, as he curled his effort into the top right corner, evading Alexander in the Whites goal.
Nicky Spooner's men reacted well, scoring shortly afterwards with Brown tapping in from close range following a Darcy cross into the area.
In the second half, the home side went in front almost immediately after the restart with Hammond firing home for the Reds.
Again, a young Wanderers team reacted to going behind with the perfect response, as Sonny Graham linked up with Fitzmartin, before crossing the ball into the danger area for Holmes to flick in at the near post.
However it wasn't to be for the Trotters, as goals from Back and Mighten grabbed two goals late on for Forest to take all three points.
Wanderers XI: Alexander, Senior, Edmondson, Graham, Broughton, Richards, Fitzmartin, Sithole, Brown, Darcy, Lockett.
Substitutes: White, Hutchinson, Riley, Holmes, Osigwe.
