Yanic Wildschut was a guest of honour in Church Road Primary School's Year One class on Tuesday afternoon.
The pupils had arranged a visit to the University of Bolton Stadium as part of their studies, with the groups in attendance at the ground this week.
On Tuesday afternoon however, he made the short journey to the children's school on Captain's Clough Road to spend time with the youngsters.
Speaking following the visit, Andrea Blackburn from Church Road's Key Stage 1 set-up said, "The children were delighted to spend an afternoon with Yanic to follow on from our stadium tour.
"Our topic this half term is heroes and villains, and in line with that, we have been discussing what it takes to be a sporting hero.
"Yanic answered all the children’s questions, had individual photos and provided each child with a signed poster - with nearly 60 children to get though, he certainly was a hero!
"We are all very grateful to Yanic for taking the time to visit and inspire our children."
