I would like to start these notes off by commenting on the wonderful tribute you all gave to the memory of Eddie Davies on Saturday.
If I’m being honest, the news still hasn’t really sunk in but to hear you all giving tremendous applause and chanting his name was very stirring, and very much appreciated by his family, friends and former colleagues who were in attendance.
On behalf of them, I would like to thank you all for such an amazing and heartfelt display of affection and respect.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to pick up the three points against QPR but now have a chance to try and regain the momentum we built up prior to the international break.
As the manager said in his post-match comments, we enjoyed plenty of possession, especially in the first half, but QPR came and sat off us and we didn’t threaten enough.
We kept going right until the end and with a bit more luck might have grabbed a late equaliser.
But let’s not dwell on the result.
The weekend’s results went our way and we are still in healthy position in the league table.
It was a blow to lose Sammy Ameobi through injury and we wish him a speedy recovery. He’s in excellent hands with our medical team and let’s hope he is back sooner rather than later.
Admittedly, the forthcoming games against Middlesbrough in midweek and Saturday’s match at Ipswich Town will be tough, but we are still unbeaten away from home in the league and will be looking to maintain that record for as long as we are able to.
Off the field, we were pleased to confirm that the ongoing negotiations with SCC have now reached an amicable conclusion and that business will continue as usual in Bolton Whites Hotel, where our clientele will continue to receive the highest standards of service.
Finally, I’m pleased to confirm that staff in the hotel will be donating clothing that has been left behind in lost property to various local homeless shelters and charities. Our staff will also be donating some of their own items too. With the nights drawing in and winter approaching, it is even more imperative that everybody does their bit to support those less fortunate than ourselves.
I am delighted that we are able to help in such a small and simple way.
Kind regards,
Ken
