Bolton Wanderers U23s suffered their first defeat of the 2018/19 Professional Development League season, losing 3-0 to Millwall U23s at The New Den.
The hosts took the lead inside four minutes, when Lewis White found space down the left side, before cutting in and firing a shot towards goal.
Bolton shot stopper James Aspinall parried away the first effort, however Lions midfielder Mason Saunders-Henry reacted first to the loose ball and poked the rebound home.
Wanderers had a chance shortly after through winger Dennis Politic, as his long range effort rattled the crossbar and evaded the Millwall goal.
The deficit doubled just after 14 minutes, when Shakeel Jones-Griffiths was adjudged to have fouled James Brown in the penalty area.
Saunders-Brown had his second from the penalty, as he dispatched the spot kick past Aspinall.
David Lee's side had a majority of the possession throughout the game, but seemed to lack a cutting edge in front of goal.
The lack of finishing touch was costly heading into the second half, as Jesse Debrah headed home from a Joe Wicks free-kick to seal the victory for Kevin Nugent's team.
Wanderers XI: Aspinall, Brockbank, Earing, Edwards, Zouma, Pritchard, Woods, Jones-Griffiths, Brown (Hartshorne 75), Politic, Navarro
