We are opening nominations for charities to put themselves forward to become the club's charity partners for the rest of the season and become the new signings.
A real passion of the new owners is that connection with our community and to ensure that beyond the 90 minutes we do as much good as we can and play our part in making Bolton a better place and helping people improve their lives.
Our main Charity for each year is Bolton Wanderers Community Trust (BWCT) which is our very own charity as a Club. #MadeInBolton.
BWCT engages with the local community through its programmes and activities and is committed to use sport and positive activity to narrow the gap of disadvantage and to encourage those it engages with to realise their potential.
We are also looking to adopt a local and national charity with a Bolton link drawn from a nominations process. Each nominated charity will then work in partnership with BWCT for a year, to maximise opportunities, raise awareness and funds, to the benefit of all the parties.
For nominations, charities involving children and young people, issues of poverty, ethnicity and challenging illnesses will be considered.
A nomination form can be found HERE and the nominations will close on Friday 25th October 2019.
One of the great charities we worked with last year was the UK Sepsis Trust and through on ongoing partnership we were recently involved in the launch of a new initiative in schools.
The Schools against Sepsis initiative, including lesson plans, animations and teaching resources, features simple information and child-friendly cartoons for Key Stage 2 teachers to lead lessons on sepsis, what it looks like and what to do if they recognise any symptoms. The video includes an introduction from Dr Ranj and animations narrated by Warwick Davis, featuring ‘Sam’s Monkey’ – a tribute to Sam Morrish, who lost his life to sepsis, aged three, in December 2010.
We shall be taking this great work forward and encouraging our school partners to get further involved with this great initiative.
I look forward to engaging with our new charity signings this season and seeing what more we can do as a Club to help make a difference.
