Bolton Wanderers Football Club would today like to wish our former player Syd Farrimond a happy 80th birthday.
The former left-back made over 400 appearance for Wanderers during a 12 year career at Burnden Park and also played for Tranmere Rovers and Halifax Town.
Over the past two years, Syd has been in attendance at Bolton Wanderers Community Trustโs Sporting Memories sessions.
The project aims to tackle isolation in older adults through sharing memories of sporting moments and tapping into a passion for sport and Bolton Wanderers.
Sydโs attendance at these sessions has been greatly received by all in attendance, where he has regaled the group with stories of how he ended up signing for Wanderers, his solitary goal scored for the club as a left back alongside other brilliant tales spanning his upbringing and career.
The attendees of the session, many of whom grew up watching Syd turn out for the Wanderers at Burnden Park were delighted to be in his company and equally thrilled with the memorabilia he would bring in to share with the group including playing shirts, photos, newspaper clippings alongside medals and caps from his playing career.
Sydโs attendance at the sessions has been appreciated by all involved and we thank him for his support for the club, community and town.
