Recruitment has started well for Bolton Wanderers with last season’s Sky Bet League Two top scorer Eoin Doyle, and promoted Plymouth Argyle’s Player of the Year Antoni Sarcevic both brought in by Head Coach, Ian Evatt.
Evatt is pleased with the double capture and claims the duo set the standard of the level he wants his team to be at; he also discussed recruitment and how things are progressing as he looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging at the top of the table come the end of the season.
‘I think it’s important that we laid the foundation and made a mark to show what we’re about and what we’re trying to do. Of course Eoin and Antoni with their records in this division set that standard that we need to get to.
‘Bringing them two in kind of sends shockwaves to everyone else that we’re here and we mean business and we certainly do this season, there is no doubt about it.
‘It’s important that we’re patient with our recruitment. We aren’t a cash cow and we want players to come to Bolton Wanderers for the right reasons. To play in this wonderful stadium in front of a packed crowd and really get behind the club again.
‘Recruitment is difficult at the moment because of the ifs and buts of when the season might start, when players are out of contract and when leagues finish. We have a list of targets, definitely and it a list that is position specific.
‘We have data that we look into and create an algorithm for each and every position and what that player should look like in that position. We’re going through those targets at the moment but like I said, we won’t be held to ransom, we’ll pay sensible money and hopefully get the right characters in the building to push on this season.’
