Bolton Wanderers is delighted to confirm that Academy graduate Ronan Darcy has signed his first professional contract with the football club which will see him remain at the University of Bolton Stadium for at least the next two years.
The Ormskirk-born starlet has been involved with Wanderers since the age of eight and progressed his way through the Club’s Academy ranks before making his first team debut against Nottingham Forest on the final day of the 2018/19 season.
Playing throughout the early stages of the 2019/20 campaign with several other of the Club’s young stars, the 19 year-old retained his place in the team for the majority of the season and managed to make 22 appearances in total along with the contribution of two goals – both impressive strikes away from home - against Rochdale and Lincoln City.
Upon putting pen-to-paper on his new deal, Darcy spoke to bwfc.co.uk and said: “I’ve been with the Club since I was eight and I always dreamed about playing first team football for this great football club. I’m over the moon to be extending my stay and cannot wait to get back out on the field and play when it’s safe to do so.”
Head of Football Operations, Tobias Phoenix, said: “We are delighted Ronan has signed his first professional contract with the Club and very much look forward to him playing a big part in the rebuild.”
Chairman Sharon Brittan added: “I am absolutely thrilled that Ronan has signed a new deal with the Club. He’s a talented player who excites us all whenever he has got the ball.
“Having been at the Club for 11 years, and coming through the youth system, he most certainly is ‘One Of Our Own’.”
