Bolton Wanderers Football Club was saddened to hear about the passing of our former player Ralph Wright.
Hailing from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Ralph enjoyed spells with Norwich City, Bradford Park Avenue, Hartlepool United and Stockport County before signing for Wanderers in 1972.
He was part of the team that won the Third Division title in 1972/73 and made a total of 32 appearances for the club, scoring five goals.
After leaving Burnden Park, he went on to have a spell in the United States with New York Cosmos where he played alongside Pele and against George Best and Geoff Hurst. He also featured for American sides Miami Toros and Dallas Tornado, as well as Southport and Spennymoor United back in the United Kingdom.
He was a member of the Bolton Wanderers Former Players Association.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Jean, and his family and friends.
