Former Bolton Wanderers full back Tony Dunne has died at the age of 78, the club was saddened to learn.
Capped 33 times by the Republic of Ireland, he made over 170 appearances for the Wanderers between 1973 and 1979 and helped Wanderers to the Second Division Championship in the 1977/78 season after being recruited by Ian Greaves.
Born in Dublin, Dunne made his name at Manchester United during a 13-year spell, helping the Red Devils to an FA Cup victory, two league titles and a European Cup during a stellar career at Old Trafford.
After leaving Burnden Park, he finished his professional playing career in the North American Soccer League with Detroit Express.
He came back to Bolton as assistant manager from 1979 to 1981.
