Former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Tony Kelly has thanked Wanderers fans for their support following the death of his beloved mother, Margaret.
Tony, who works for the Community Trust, was heartened by the comments and messages he received from colleagues, supporters and friends within the game.
He said: “When I first joined the club I was welcomed with open arms by the Bolton community. The town soon became my home and it quickly became apparent just how special this place is.
“Following my mum’s passing, I was heartened by the way everybody got behind me and my family.
“I cannot thank them enough for the love and warmth they have shown me.”
Phil Mason, the club’s chaplain, said: “Everybody at Bolton Wanderers Football Club and Bolton Wanderers Community Trust were saddened to hear of Margaret’s passing.
“Tony is very popular with our supporters, colleagues and the wider community of Bolton, and our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family ahead of Margaret’s funeral next week.”
