Declan John has revealed it didn’t take him long to convert his loan spell into a permanent arrangement.
The Welshman arrived on loan from Swansea City in January and played a significant role in Wanderers’ immediate return to Sky Bet League One.
And with his contract ending at the Liberty Stadium, Ian Evatt moved quickly to sign him on a three-year deal.
Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel, he said: “I had the connection from last season, from the team doing so well, so it was an easy choice to come back.
“I needed a few weeks to relax and think on things but as soon as there was a chance to come back I spoke to the gaffer and I think I got it done in a few days.
“We’ll be talking about the promotion for years. For us to go and do that run was absolutely superb and it’s just the connection I had with the fans – even though we haven’t had them in the stadium yet – and obviously the gaffer and the boys.
Aside from many contract renewals, Wanderers have recruited eight new faces to the squad, and the defender is confident that the strength in depth will serve his team well in Sky Bet League One.
“The team we had was a good platform to build on,” he added.
“We have tried to strengthen that, which is good news, now we just have to stay healthy, stay fit, and go into the season flying.”
