Matt Gilks has penned a new one-year deal to continue playing as a goalkeeper for Bolton Wanderers, the Club is pleased to confirm.
The former Blackpool, Rangers and Scotland ‘keeper initially arrived at the club last summer as the goalkeeper coach as well as registering as a player.
He made his debut in between the sticks for the club during the televised victory against Salford City at the University of Bolton Stadium in November and went on to keep 16 clean sheets as he helped Wanderers to achieve automatic promotion to Sky Bet League One.
Gilks said: “I’m delighted to have signed up for another year. It was never in any doubt and I’m really looking forward to playing my part in the future of this wonderful football club.”
Wanderers Manager Ian Evatt added: “We are delighted that Matt’s decided to go for one more year. He’s a vastly experienced player who helped us improve no end last season and was a huge part of our success. We are looking forward to going again next season.”
Meanwhile, Wanderers can confirm that defender Ryan Delaney has left the club after both parties were unable to reach an agreement over a deal. The club would like to thank him for his services and wishes him well for the future.
