Bolton Wanderers have fought off fierce competition to land highly-rated former Arsenal youngster Xavier Amaechi on an initial six-month loan from German 2 Bundesliga side Hamburger SV.
The 20 year-old winger played youth football for Arsenal before moving to Hamburg in a 2.5 million euros deal in the summer of 2019.
Born in Bath, Amaechi has represented England from under 16s to under 20s and last year scored on his under 20s debut in a 2-0 victory against Wales at St George’s Park.
Last season, he was loaned out to Karlsruher SC where he made seven appearances after joining them in January.
Amaechi told bwfc.co.uk: “I’m looking forward to getting started with the boys. Hopefully I can start pre-season well and then look forward to the start of the season.
“I had contact with the gaffer a few weeks before pre-season and he told me that his plans were to have a good season in League One and hopefully get back to the Championship.
“The manager was really positive and ambitious and that came across really well when I spoke to him.
“I want to get in a good rhythm and help the team progress.”
Wanderers Manager Ian Evatt added: “We are delighted Xavier has joined us on loan from Hamburg.
“He is a hugely talented young player with bags of pace and quality, and we are extremely excited to have him at the club.”
