Gethin Jones revealed he and his team-mates knew they were going to put Crawley Town to the sword to confirm a last-day promotion to Sky Bet League One.
After missing out on the chance to sew up their automatic chances last weekend against Exeter City, the Welsh full-back admitted that the defeat against the Grecians at the University of Bolton Stadium was disappointing.
He said: “That’s the quietest I’ve ever heard a changing room as well and it was a real kick up the backside for all of us really.
"Last Saturday we were going into it thinking this could be it today and there was a bit more celebrations.
"But at the end of the day we’ve made it hard for ourselves all season and I know the fans were disappointed with last week.”
How Wanderers responded though!
After surveying that defeat and preparing for the prize all week, Wanderers coasted to victory in West Sussex thanks to an imperious performance, perhaps their best of the season, with goals from Antoni Sarcevic, Dapo Afolayan, Eoin Doyle and Lloyd Isgrove.
He added: "We knew we were going to come here and we were just going to blow them away. They didn’t have much to play for today but sometimes that can be a difficult game because sometimes they can be more relaxed in playing and try different things.
"But we’ve come here today and blown them away. We knew in the first 20 or 30 minutes, if we were at it then we’d win the game and that’s what we’ve done."
