Bolton Wanderers Under-18's returned to winning ways with a comprehensive 5-1 win over Oldham Athletic in the Youth Alliance Cup.
A hat-trick for Lamine Toure and a goal from Danny Jones put the Young Wanderers 4-0 up and the fifth was a speculative effort from Max Conway from just inside the opposition’s half to lob the goal keeper.
Bolton didn’t start brightly and struggled to get their fluid passing game going, as a lively Oldham side caused a few early problems with a creative attacking threat.
The Young Whites slowly started to have an impact on the game and were beginning to create chances as Lamine Toure looked a threat in the final third.
It was Danny Jones who opened the scoring for Bolton with a tap in at the back post after a great cross from Mitchell Henry.
The second quickly followed when Lamine Toure rose highest to head home a cross again delivered by Mitchell Henry.
The second half started with Bolton dominating possession and quickly racing into a four goal lead with two further goals from Lamine Toure inside the 18-yard-box.
The best goal was saved till the end as Max Conway spotted the goalkeeper off his line from just inside the halfway line and executed a great chip to make the score 5-0.
Oldham deservedly got a goal in the last minute of the game although there were suspicions of offside about it.
U18 Coach Dave Gardiner said: "We managed to convert more of our chances into goals which was really pleasing.
“We were a lot more clinical in front of goal and made better decisions to create more critical chances.
“Every week we have looked like scoring five and today it finally happened. We have a tough run of games coming up now and we are looking forward to the challenge.”
