Ian Evatt was delighted to deliver another away win for Wanderers’ travelling fans as Kieran Sadlier’s superb late strike sent them home happy.
Sadlier volleyed home in the 78th-minute to seal a 2-1 victory over his former club.
And Evatt insisted the supporters played their part after 2,700 provided their backing at Doncaster.
“I’ve got to say again, our fans were absolutely amazing. The support was breath-taking,” said the Wanderers’ boss.
“It was really proper hairs-on-the-back-of-the-neck stuff second half and that makes all the difference.
“It lifts the players and gives them that extra momentum and I was delighted to get the win.
“Thank-you again for their amazing support because it really does help the players get over the line.”
Wanderers clinched an eighth away win of the campaign and extended their unbeaten run to five games thanks to Sadlier’s third goal for the Whites.
The ex-Rovers forward converted a Dapo Afolayan cross a minute after Doncaster had made it 1-1 with less than a quarter of an hour to go.
Wanderers had earlier led through Amadou Bakayoko’s 12th goal of the campaign and Evatt admitted his side needed to dig deep to maintain his target of an unbeaten run to the end of the season in the face of Doncaster’s desperate bid to beat the drop.
“I thought it was a good game. It was challenging and I was delighted with my players’ attitude,” Evatt added.
“They really threw the kitchen sink at us. It was a really good performance from them.
“They were well prepared and it was more or less on the line for them today, so they chucked everything at it.
“It was a good-quality football match but we had that bit of extra quality, especially in the final third, which has got us over the line in the end.
“We have some very good forward players and they’ve come up with the goods for us.
“The players have that character and personality now to keep going until the final whistle.
“They’ve got that belief that they can score at any point.
“They showed great character and managed to get the winner and what a winner it was.”
