With a week still to go, almost 10,000 concert-goers have now registered for their free ticket to the Wanderers’ upcoming Big Bolton Carol Concert.
Working in partnership with Bolton Council and the University of Bolton, the aim of the concert is to gather the community together to celebrate the festive period through the magic of music and song.
Via a bucket collection on the night, the event will also be a fundraiser for six charities based in Bolton and beyond. Funds raised will be split equally between Bolton Wanderers in the Community, Urban Outreach Bolton, Backup North West, Age UK Bolton, 1 Point Northwest and The Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust. Collectors will be stationed at turnstiles throughout the stadium so concert-goers will be able to make a donation if they are in the position to do so.
Before the concert kicks off at 7pm, the Club Shop will be open with the Wanderers’ squad on site, signing autographs from 5.30pm in the shop and wishing fans a merry Christmas.
With food and drinks options available in the Fan Zone, attendees can also pick up a drink at the concert kiosks to take with them into the stadium to enjoy during the concert.
With everyone seated for 7pm, the concert will be opened by Club Chaplain Phil Mason who will lead the evening, introducing the choir of over 1,000 primary school children, guest solo performers including Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards and Coleen Nolan, Rosalie Deighton and the Wanderers’ squad, who will open one of the carols on the night.
Sharon Brittan, Chairman of Bolton Wanderers said: “We are bowled over by the show of support we have had from the community in the space of just a few weeks. To have nearly 10,000 people already registered to attend our carol concert is fabulous and we can really feel the excitement growing now!
“We would absolutely love to break the world record for the largest number of carol singers and we know this is going to be an incredibly special and powerful night at Bolton Wanderers.
“If you haven’t already, please pick up your free ticket and come and be part of something magical happening at the University of Bolton Stadium a week today.”
The current Guinness World Record for the largest group of carol singers stands at 25,272. Who knows what can happen between now and next Monday. But what is guaranteed is a fantastic turn out for what is going to be a memorable evening for the club, the community and the whole town.
