Jon Dadi Bodvarsson is confident his first taste of victory in a Wanderers’ shirt is just a starter.
Bodvarsson came off the bench to make a debut for the Whites at Shrewsbury Town a week ago after signing from Millwall.
The Iceland international was on the pitch as Dion Charles struck a stunning late winner to spark joyous scenes among the travelling fans.
Bodvarsson admits it couldn’t have been a better beginning and is ready for more to follow as Ian Evatt’s men go in pursuit of a hat-trick of League One wins at home to high-flying Sunderland this afternoon (Saturday).
“It was brilliant. Everything about it was so good,” he said.
“Seeing the fans behind the goal and seeing how welcoming they were, it gave me that extra boost.
“It’s been a while since I’d played in a proper game so it was great to be back out there and the way we won it as well.
“You couldn’t ask for a better script, so it was fantastic.
“We’ve had two wins in a row and I don’t feel like the lads are comfortable or anything.
“They want to go on a proper run and finish the season on a high.
“I think that’s also the ambition of Bolton Wanderers Football Club. We want to get higher up the table and I feel the lads are really focused so it’s good.”
Bodvarsson is hungry to get firing again with Wanderers after dropping out of the first-team picture at Millwall this season.
The former Wolves and Reading striker feels invigorated by his move to Wanderers and is relishing the possible prospect of a home debut in front of around 20,000 fans against Sunderland.
“It’s just good to be back, playing football, and this environment as well. I feel alive again. I feel great,” added the 29-year-old, who has promised to lead a burst of the Iceland ‘thunderclap’ when he scores his first Wanderers’ goal.
“I can’t wait. It will be a huge game for us.
“Sunderland is big team as well. Those are the kind of games you want to play in as a player.
“You couldn’t ask for a better occasion. Probably there’ll be a lot of fans there and I think it’s great.
“I’m actually really excited. I can’t wait to hopefully play well if I’m there for 20 minutes or 90 or whatever and hopefully we get the win as well.
“It will be a good test and I think everyone is excited for it.”
