Wanderers have further strengthened their B team squad with the capture of defender Eric Yoro.
The Whites have paid a small fee to bring the 18-year-old to the University of Bolton Stadium from League of Ireland Premier Division side UCD (University College Dublin).
After making his debut on the opening day, Yoro has featured regularly at first-team level for the Dublin outfit this season, which runs until the start of November.
And after being identified by Wanderers’ recruitment staff as a player with the potential to develop further with the Whites, he becomes the seventh new recruit for the B squad this summer.
A more attacking player in his early years, Dublin-born Yoro switched to a central defensive role following his move to UCD in 2020 and is seen as having all the physical attributes and athleticism to build on the promising start to his career.
Yoro will start out in the new Wanderers’ B squad and is delighted to have been given the opportunity to further his football education after making the step up to senior football with UCD.
“Every game you play you learn and it’s been a brilliant experience for me there,” said Yoro.
“I had a call from the manager to say Bolton were interested. I was shocked. I didn’t know what to say.
“I came in for a meeting to discuss everything and I was delighted. I know Bolton is such a big club so I knew to come here would be a good decision for me and my family.
“It all happened very quickly and I’m happy to be here.
“I can’t wait to get started. With the coaching I’ll get in the B team if I keep working hard and listening and learning, hopefully at some point I can get towards the first team.”
Yoro’s arrival follows the signings of forwards Gerald Sithole, Conor Carty and Matty Grivosti, attacking midfielder Connor Stanley, midfielder Nelson Khumbeni and attacking full-back Lynford Sackey as the B team builds towards its first season under Matt Craddock and Andrew Tutte.
The summer signings all featured in the B team's opening pre-season friendly at Atherton Collieries on Wednesday night with Yoro joining his new team-mates to watch ahead of completing the paperwork on his switch to Wanderers.
