Wanderers complete their pre-season schedule when they entertain Huddersfield Town on Saturday (KO 3pm).
Ian Evatt’s will be back on home turf for the first time since the final day of last season when they tackle the Terriers.
And with just over a week to go until the Whites’ League One opener at Ipswich Town on 30 July, Evatt believes a visit from the Championship side is an ideal way to round off public preparations.
“It’s nice to be back at home with support and our own fans,” said the Wanderers’ boss.
“We’re looking forward to playing in front of them.
“We know it’s the last one before the season kicks off next week and we want to test ourselves against a team that nearly made it into the Premier League last season.”
Huddersfield – who are also sending a side to play at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday – just missed out on promotion when they were beaten in the Championship play-off final by Nottingham Forest.
They have since changed management with former player Danny Schofield taking over as head coach.
Schofield’s side will be the third Championship line-up to face Wanderers in pre-season with the Whites so far losing 1-0 to Wigan and beating Watford 2-0 in training-ground games.
Wanderers slipped up 3-1 at Carlisle United last weekend, but Evatt has been pleased with the overall impact of the build-up as his side gears up for their trip to Portman Road on Saturday week and the campaign beyond.
“I think pre-season has been largely successful,” he added.
“We’ve done very well and, touch wood, so far avoided any serious injury.
“There have been lots of positives and we’ll be looking for another one on Saturday.”
Tickets for Saturday’s game – priced at just £10 for adults and £5 for over-65s and under-18s – will be available to buy up until kick-off with details HERE
The lower tiers of the stadium will be open and supporters are reminded there will be no cash turnstiles open for the game.
A 16-page match programme, featuring an interview with Wanderers’ former Town striker Elias Kachunga, will be available to buy.
