Wanderers step up their pre-season preparations when they take on more Championship opposition in Watford on Tuesday afternoon.
Ian Evatt takes his men to face the Hornets in a behind-closed-doors work-out at their London Colney training ground (KO 3pm).
Wanderers lost 1-0 to a Wigan penalty – having missed from the spot themselves –when they faced the newly-promoted Latics last Saturday.
Watford have joined Wigan in the Championship this season but last term were playing top-flight football and are certain to provide the Whites with an ideal test as they build towards the start of the League One season.
“It’s another challenge for us against an ex-Premier League team and a team that will be well fancied in the Championship this season,” said Evatt, whose side was the more dominant force against Wigan at Lostock last weekend.
“Again we’ll be looking to see some positives, some good performances and hopefully get a good result this time to match our performance.”
Watford will be playing their first game since returning from a training camp in Austria, which closed with a 0-0 draw against Greek Super League outfit Panathinaikos on Sunday.
The Hornets are re-building under former Forest Green Rovers boss Rob Edwards (pictured above), a friend and former defensive partner of Whites’ manager Evatt at Blackpool, where the pair won promotion to the Premier League in 2010.
The 39-year-old has taken over at Vicarage Road after leading Forest Green to promotion as champions to League One, where Wanderers will start their campaign at Ipswich Town on Saturday, 30 July.
