Wanderers are to face Huddersfield Town the week before the start of the new EFL season.
Ian Evatt’s men will take on the Terriers – who just missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season – at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday, 23 July (KO 3pm).
The attractive friendly fixture will be Wanderers’ only home game of their pre-season programme and an excellent opportunity for supporters to watch the Whites ahead of the big kick-off on 30 July.
Admission prices and ticket details for the game will be announced in due course.
Huddersfield reached the Championship play-off final before losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest in the final at Wembley at the end of last month.
Carlos Corberan’s fast-finishing side fell just one place short of automatic promotion in 2021/22 as they finished third in the Championship table and will provide ideal opposition for Wanderers as the Whites fine-tune their preparations for the start of their League One campaign.
Town’s visit - which could mean a reunion for former Terriers Elias Kachunga and Kyle Dempsey - adds to a varied pre-season fixture list which will see Evatt’s side face a range of opposition as they taper up for their return to competitive action.
Wanderers can also confirm a warm-up game against newly-promoted Stockport County on Tuesday, 5 July.
The fixture against the Hatters – who sealed their return to the EFL after an 11-year absence by winning the National League – will be played behind closed doors and not at either club’s stadium due to pitch renovation work at both venues.
Meanwhile, Wanderers’ newly-formed ‘B’ team will conclude their pre-season plans with a game at Northern Premier League side Warrington Town on Tuesday, 2 August (KO 7.45pm).
Fixtures for the 2022/23 EFL season will be released on Thursday, 23 June.
