Wanderers will kick off their 2022/23 League One campaign with a trip to Ipswich Town.
The Whites will then face Wycombe Wanderers – beaten in last season’s play-off final – in their first home game of the new season.
The fixtures, released at 9am this morning, handed Wanderers a visit to Ipswich on the opening day on Saturday, 30 July.
Ian Evatt’s men – who recorded a superb 5-2 win at Portman Road last term – also finish the season on the road with a visit to newly-promoted Bristol Rovers on Saturday, 6 May.
The Christmas fixtures see Wanderers face an enticing home game on Boxing Day against Derby County, relegated from the Championship last season under former England striker Wayne Rooney and currently seeking new owners.
Three days later, Evatt will take his side to Lincoln City on Tuesday, 29 December ahead of a New Year’s Day trip to Barnsley, who also made the drop from the Championship last term.
The return trip to Derby - the club where Evatt started his career - takes place on Saturday, 21 January.
Port Vale are the first of last season’s League Two sides to face Wanderers on Saturday, 13 August before back-to-back home games for the Whites against Morecambe and Sheffield Wednesday.
Wanderers make the return trip to Morecambe on Saturday, 4 March and also play Lancashire opposition in Fleetwood Town on Saturday, 19 November and then in the Whites’ final home fixture of the season for the second season running on Saturday, 29 April.
Evatt’s men – who finished ninth in League One last season after losing just three of their last 22 games – play near neighbours Accrington Stanley away on Saturday, 22 October and then at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday, 1 April.
Meanwhile, the Easter programme sees the Whites make a lengthy Good Friday trip to Exeter City following their promotion to League One before facing Cambridge United at home on Easter Monday – 10 April.
The League One fixture programme will continue throughout the World Cup Finals – barring any potential postponements under the current international call-up rules – although there will be no mid-week league games between the end of October and Boxing Day.
