Bolton Wanderers FC, with the support of the Bolton Wanderers FC Supporters’ Trust, are delighted to announce a new partnership with Her Game Too and the appointment of a new club ambassador for the campaign.
Her Game Too is a UK-based organisation founded by a group of female fans in May 2021, which aims to eradicate sexism in the football industry.
The campaign has enjoyed widespread support since its launch last year and Wanderers are now pleased to join the growing list of clubs ensuring women and girls of all ages feel confident and safe sharing their opinion about football both online and in everyday life, without fear of sexist abuse.
A recent survey of 400 female football fans, carried out by the Her Game Too team, discovered that 92.3% had seen sexist abuse online and 62.8% had actually experienced sexist abuse online.
Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer at Bolton Wanderers FC said: “Pledging our support to this important campaign is something we’re very committed to as a club. What the Her Game Too team have achieved in such a short time is incredibly impressive and the results of their research showcase how necessary their work is.
“Our partnership with the campaign will form part of the wider and ongoing equality and diversity work we are developing at Bolton Wanderers to ensure we offer a safe and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy the game we all love.
The club will work in partnership with the BWFC Supporters’ Trust and Wanderers’ fan Emily Parker – who is the new Her Game Too ambassador for the club - to support the campaign.
Ian Bridge, of the Bolton Wanderers FC Supporters’ Trust said: “The BWFCST is delighted to be involved in the partnership with Her Game Too and the BWFC ambassador, Emily, in association with our beloved club.
