Bolton Wanderers and Bolton Wanderers in the Community are finalists in four categories at this year’s Northwest Football Awards 2022.
Taking place on 7th November at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, the awards celebrate the region’s brightest and best in the game, both on and off the field.
Bolton Wanderers and Bolton Wanderers in the Community have been shortlisted in the following categories:
League One Player of the Season: Dapo Afolayan
Rising Star of the Season: George Johnston
Best Club Marketing, Sponsorship or Engagement Campaign: ‘Be Part Of It’ season ticket campaign
Community Club of the Season – All other Leagues: Bolton Wanderers in the Community
Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer of Bolton Wanderers said: “We’re thrilled to be in the running for four categories at this season’s Northwest Football Awards. The range of categories we’re nominated in is a demonstration of the talent we have both on and off the pitch at Bolton Wanderers, and an indication of what a positive place we’re in as a club. We look forward to attending the event later this year.”
Dapo Afolayan was Wanderers’ top goal scorer during the 2021/22 season, while defender George Johnstone was awarded Young Player of the Year at the club’s own end of season awards in May of this year.
The ‘Be Part of It’ season ticket campaign, launched in February, drove an increase in season ticket sales of over 25% on the previous year and resulted in over 13,000 Wanderers fans securing their seats at the University of Bolton Stadium for the entirety of the 2022/23 season.
Bolton Wanderers in the Community, the club’s official charity, engaged with 15,000 participants over the course of the 2021/22 season, working across the key areas of health, social inclusion, education, disability and mental health.
Voting for the Player of the Season categories remains open until 12 noon on Friday 7th October.
