Wanderers will have another huge crowd behind them on Monday as the fans prepare to welcome home their Wembley heroes.
And boss Ian Evatt insists his team will need their full backing once again to help Wanderers pick up more points in their play-off quest.
Such has been the demand for tickets for Easter Monday’s visit of Cambridge United – with prices reduced on another Wanderers’ ‘Family Day’ – that the lower section of the Franking Sense South Stand is being opened for home fans.
The Papa Johns Trophy won by the Whites a week ago in a famous afternoon at Wembley will be carried onto the pitch before kick-off.
And with Wanderers on target for one of their biggest crowds since the end of their Premier League days a decade ago, Evatt wants the fans to play their part in his side’s bid to back up their Good Friday win at Exeter City and stay in the play-off places.
“It was unbelievable at Wembley and hopefully Monday, with a sold-out Bolton section and again taking care of our own business, we can get another three points,” said the Wanderers’ manager.
Wanderers were roared to Wembley glory by 35,000 fans and Evatt was also full of praise for the near 1,000 travelling supporters who made the 500-mile round trip to Exeter on Friday.
He admitted the Wanderers’ fans helped his side get over the line and secure a vital 1-0 win to stay fifth in the League One table and inside the play-off places on goal difference with a game in hand on the four sides immediately below them.
And Wanderers will be relying on more of the same as they look to maintain that advantage with victory over the U’s, who also won on Friday as they battle to beat the drop.
“This group needs to be lifted and needs to be pushed forward. I have no doubt our fan base are going to do that for us,” Evatt added.
“These boys need you. These players need the support and they need you to lift them.
“They need the backing. It’s going to be an incredible atmosphere and we have to make sure our performance gets bums off seats.”
