PREVIEW: Wrexham Reserves v Wanderers B

The B Team completes its Central League campaign with a trip to face the second string of new National League champions Wrexham.

Wanderers face Wrexham’s Reserves at Nantwich Town’s Optimum Stadium this afternoon (Tuesday) with a 1pm KO. Admission for spectators is free.

The Whites need a win to lift themselves off the foot of the table and above Wrexham, who still have three games to play.

The fixture will be the 30th for the B Team – both competitive fixtures and friendlies –since the squad was put together at the start of last season to try and bridge the gap between youth and senior football.

As well as getting extensive game time for the Whites, several members of the B squad have also benefitted from loan moves to non-league sides to play first-team football.

With the non-league season approaching an end most are now back with Wanderers, although wing-back Max Conway remains with Buxton as they bid to reach the play-offs in National League North.

Forward Conor Stanley is also still at Bamber Bridge after their qualification for the Northern Premier League play-offs.

Brigg face Gainsborough Trinity at home tonight in their Premier Division play-off semi-final. The winners will face either Warrington Town or Matlock Town in the final next Monday.

Meanwhile, defender Adam Senior will complete the National League season with Halifax Town, who still have two games to play including a trip to Woking tonight.
