PREVIEW: Morecambe v Wanderers

Wanderers make the short trip north to face Morecambe in a lunch-time kick-off.

The Whites – backed by a sold-out away end of over 1,600 – will be looking to bounce back from their mid-week loss at Portsmouth to go third in the League One table – for a few hours at least.

The Shrimps’ concern is at the other end of the table as they look to stay out of the drop-zone.

Manager quotes:

Ian Evatt:

“We’re in a fantastic position. Expectations are huge now and that’s because we’ve earned them with the form we’ve been talking about.

“But we need to get back to winning ways on Saturday and we will be doing all we can to make sure that happens.

“It’s important when you get faced with a bad result that you bounce back and react in the right way. It’s our jobs to get our heads down and react in a positive way on Saturday.

“This league offers you so many different challenges and this game will be loads different from the Ipswich game here the next week and the Sheffield Wednesday game the following Friday.

“But we know there are no surprises here. We know what we’re going into and we know what we need to do to perform well.

“And if we can perform well, it gives us the best chance of winning the game.”

Morecambe manager Derek Adams:

“We’ve competed against the top sides in the division at home this season and we want to continue that.

“We’ve got a difficult game against a team that are riding high at this moment in time.

“They had been on a fantastic run before losing at Portsmouth. Bolton do have an abundance of talent to choose from.

“We go into the game coming off a free mid-week this week, so that will hopefully energise the players for Saturday.

“The atmosphere will be very good. It will be electric. We’ve had a lot of big fixtures at home already this season at home and the players have responded to that and I’m sure they’re all looking forward to half past twelve on Saturday."

Team news:

Wanderers are checking on the fitness of Victor Adeboyejo to assess the extent of a leg injury which flared up again at Portsmouth in mid-week.

Forward Cameron Jerome may be absent again with a back problem but midfielder George Thomason is expected to re-join the squad after getting minutes under his belt in the B Team on Tuesday.

Morecambe hope to have striker Cole Stockton back after missing their 1-0 loss at Fleetwood last weekend but on-loan Burnley youngster Michael Mellon misses out through injury.

Form guide:

Wanderers will be looking for a first away win in three league games after winning three of the previous four.

The Whites’ 3-1 defeat at Portsmouth on Tuesday night was just their third loss in 18 games stretching back to early December.

Ian Evatt’s side won 1-0 at home to Morecambe in mid-August thanks to Conor Bradley’s first league goal.

Morecambe have won just one of their last six games to sit one place above the League One relegation zone.

That followed a burst of four wins in five games after Christmas to climb out of the bottom four.

The Shrimps have lost just one of their last 11 home games.
