B TEAM PREVIEW: Lancaster City v Wanderers

B Team

The B Team kick off their pre-season programme tonight (Wednesday) with a trip to face Lancaster City.

A number of the young Whites featured off the bench in the first team’s 3-1 win at Curzon Ashton on Tuesday night and are set to add to their game time at the Giant Axe (KO 7pm).

“A few of the lads were involved last night and I think that gives them the motivation an inspiration to kick on today,” said B Team coach Matt Craddock.

“They can do it around first-team players. The challenge is to do it when first-team players aren’t there. I’m looking forward to seeing how they do.”

Wanderers are also set to have their three summer signings – Charlie Hayes-Green, Ben Andreucci and Trevon Bryan – on duty against a Lancaster side playing their third pre-season game and off the back of a 1-0 win over National League side Altrincham on Saturday.

The Northern Premier League side will offer a serious test for the B side which is building up towards its second season as part of the development pathway Wanderers are looking to build between Academy and senior football.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to see what we’re trying to do,” added Craddock, who heads up the coaching side of the Whites’ long-term plan.

“The lads have been really good in pre-season, in taking on information. We are trying to instil the identity of the first team in what we do."

“Our lads have brought into it and the new lads are starting to understand what we want from them.

“They have worked really hard and trying to buy into what we’re doing and, in time, that’s a really good combination.

“I’ve enjoyed the last two first-team games and it will be another good one tonight, seeing what the lads can do.

“It will be a good challenge for them. Lancaster are a good side, the same level as Bamber Bridge who played our first team on Saturday, and I think it will be a really good game. I’m looking forward to it.”

Admission to tonight’s game is £7 for adults, £5 concessions and £3 for students and 12-17-year olds.

The B Team also has friendlies lined up at Longridge Town on Tuesday, 18 July (KO 7pm) and Atherton Collieries on Saturday, 22 July (KO 12 noon), as well as training-ground fixtures against Premier League opposition.
