The B Team’s slim chance of reaching the semi-finals of the Central League Cup were ended by a power Rotherham line-up.

While the Whites were missing a number of players due to possible involvement in Wanderers’ EFL Trophy tie with Fleetwood Town, every member of the Millers’ starting line-up had featured at League One level this season.

With Rotherham's scheduled game against Wanderers this coming weekend postponed due to international call-ups, boss Steve Evans took the opportunity to utilise his senior squad and give them a run-out.

Andy Taylor’s side competed well and with Jack Dallimore making a couple of fine saves trailed only to a goal from former Preston, Middlesbrough and QPR Will Hugill as the behind-closed-doors game at Rotherham’s training entered the final 25 minutes.

However, a brace from substitute Reece Wilson and a late Jack Holmes’ strike earned Rotherham a second successive win to move joint top of Group C alongside Huddersfield Town B.

Wanderers, who included four members of the Youth Team in their starting XI, end their interest in the competition with a win, a draw and two defeats from their four group games.

Wanderers: Dallimore, Westwood, Toole, Hogan, Weston, Rice, Tutte, Leigh, Bryan, Larence, Isong. Substitutes used: Oliver, Grayson, Abimbola.
