B Team Report | Wanderers 6 Wrexham 1

Trevon Bryan

Six goals for Wanderers including a hat-trick for forward Trevon Bryan wrapped up what was an excellent performance by Andy Taylor's team.

Mark Isong gave the Whites the lead before half time but were pegged back on the hour mark with a Harry Dean header following a corner.

But from then on it was one way traffic with Luke Matheson, Trevon Bryan and a Wrexham own goal pushing Wanderers' tally up to six.

It was a tactical beginning in the first half with neither team creating any real chances or causing a threat in front of goal. That was until the 44th minute of the half when a searching ball out to Matheson found the full back on the left who beat his man and dinked a ball towards Isong in the area who headed home the first of the game.

Wrexham equalised on the 60 minute mark as Dean rose highest in the area to bring the Welsh side level with half an hour to play.

It took just six minutes for Wanderers to get back in front. Some wonderful play out from the back set the Whites on their way down the field where the ball found its way to James Westwood. The winger looked for the run of Bryan in the box but defender Alex Moore got it all wrong and headed the cross into his own net.

Andy Taylor's side had a third on 72 minutes when Carlos Mendes Gomes played the ball to Matheson on the left before the full back cut inside onto his right foot and unleashed an effort into the far bottom corner to give his side some breathing room.

Three minutes later Bryan got his first of the game thanks to a perfect pass from Captain Sonny Sharples who slipped in Bryan and he did the rest striking the ball past the Wrexham keeper.

Keeping count? Wanderers made it 5-1 in injury time when goalkeeper Jack Dallimore went route one and found Bryan at the other end of the pitch who made no mistake for his second goal of the game with a composed finished.

And to round the game off Bryan got his deserved hat-trick with the final kick of the game. The forward capitalised on a mistake at the back to get his third and Wanderers' sixth to complete a fantastic day at the office for Andy Taylor's side.
