Bolton Wanderers Women are delighted to announce the signings of both Katie Holt and Charlotte Tyers, with the duo becoming the first official signings for the women’s side under club operations.
Both Katie and Charlotte make the move to the Whites from leagues above the one Wanderers will line-up in next season, with the pair adding real quality to Myles Smith’s squad as two statement signings.
A lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan and season ticket holder, Katie arrives at Wanderers following spells at Blackburn Rovers, Blackburn in the Community and Chorley Women.
An experienced central defender who carries experience in the Manchester City Women’s setup, Katie will add a steeliness and calmness to the Whites’ back-line next season.
Charlotte started her career in the women’s setup at Leicester City’s Academy until U16s, prior to moving north and being part of the Steven Gerrard Academy before playing for Tranmere Rovers and Chorley.
An exciting attacking midfielder with an eye for both a goal and assist, Charlotte will undoubtedly become an exciting addition to the Women’s side this season.
The club are also thrilled to confirm that Katie has been named as Captain of Bolton Wanderers Women, becoming the leader of the women’s side at the heart of Wanderers’ defence.
Katie Holt said: “I’m over the moon. I’ve supported Bolton since I can remember and to now actually play for this club is amazing. My whole family are all Bolton fans too, so they are all delighted!
“This is something I’m really proud to be a part of. The project and the ambition the club has is really exciting and it’s a chance to put Bolton Wanderers Women on the map. I can’t wait to get going.”
Charlotte Tyers on becoming a Wanderers player: “I’m really excited to get started. The way this club are looking to progress the women’s team and get up the tiers as quickly as possible is brilliant. I think it’ll be a really good experience for me.
“I’ve never been part of something like this before. The facilities we have available are fantastic so hopefully I can get into the season and chip in with goals and assists.”
Manager Myles Smith said: “I am delighted to welcome both Katie and Charlotte to the club as our first signings.
“With the ambition we have here, we want to build a squad that is capable and ready to progress with us as we grow and I’m confident that both Katie and Charlotte fit that profile perfectly.
“These signings are a big step forward for us and is a perfect indicator of the excitement surrounding this project and the attraction of playing for Bolton Wanderers Women – with players wanting to move further down the leagues to be part of this journey.
“It was also an easy decision to make Katie Holt our captain for this season. As a Bolton fan who both lives in the town and works for Bolton Council, she knows exactly what it means to represent this Football Club – making her the perfect candidate to take this team forward on the field.”
